Live life as though everything is rigged in your favor

These words were sent to me in an email from the amazing bloggers at The Nectar Collective, and I have found it's stuck with me for the last few days. I'm usually pretty quick to hit the 'Trash' button once I'm done, but these ten words are still there... Inspiring me and making me think!

If something goes wrong in our lives, it can quite easily snowball into a bigger issue. Why? Because like attracts like. Your power of thought, and how you react to situations directly affects what may happen to you. Have any of you read The Secret? Hold up, stay with me here! I'm not a loony, I'm not naïve, I just know that sometimes there are forces bigger than you at work helping to shape your life. Lets call those forces The Universe.

Rumi, the 13th century Persian who came up with hundreds of quotes (that are splashed everywhere nowadays) also came up with this very appropriate little pearler..

"Live life as though everything is rigged in your favor"

So, what does it mean? It means believe that you can do what you want. You can achieve your goals, you can reach out and grasp your dreams. After all, The Universe is on your side :)
The reason why our plans get diverted by messy complications is simple - we let our minds fester on the problem, which then grows the problem like a nasty little weed. Like attracts like - negative thoughts will bring negative results. So when something bad happens, try to let it go and move forward, focusing on whatever bright and positive thing you can. This will stop the cycle of negativity!

Even if your goals and dreams are lofty, there is no reason to stop believing you can achieve them. Obstacles are inevitable, but they shouldn't hold you back for long - there is always a way to move forward. I know my own stubbornness can hinder me a lot of the time - I get so wound up with what is going wrong, that I lose sight of the goal. I have to stop and take a step back to refocus my mind and energy into positive actions to get there. For example, I chose to study Vet Nursing which has a very low job turnover and is completely flooded with new grads wanting jobs. Complications - little to no jobs available where I live, a lot of competition and I had less education and experience than many of the other applicants. Boo. So what did I do? I focused on getting top marks, networking where I could and building a good reputation as a hard worker. I imagined myself working at clinics, and had no doubt in my mind that I would get a job. Three weeks before I graduated, I scored an interview and got my ideal nursing job! I really do believe that my positivity made me much calmer and enthusiastic rather than nervous.

Bambi's life travels

I am now trying to retrain myself to work remotely, as a freelance writer and blogger. I want to learn some facets of graphic design also, to help me sell my web and general design services to other bloggers or brands. I haven't done any formal training yet, (just a heck of a lot of reading and googling) and I have already managed to get a position as a contributor to Destinations Magazine. Again, I credit a whole lot of positive thinking and a little bit of networking to achieving this! How am I going to learn about design, with no time or money to do it? I don't know. But I'm not worried, because I know that it will happen somehow!

I believe that life is rigged in my favor. I know that sometimes things will go wrong, but they will always get better and come right eventually. There is no reason why I can't achieve my dreams - and there's no reason you can't either! Rigged I tell you, rigged ;)
